Brooks & Dunn to donate playground to Community Renewal

Queensborough children will get a new place to play thanks to country music superstars Brooks & Dunn.

The duo will receive the Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award this evening. The award includes a playground to be donated to the community of their choice, which is Shreveport-Bossier Community Renewal's Friendship House at the corner of West College Street and Missouri Avenue.

"I think it's just great," said James Melvin, community coordinator for Queensborough. "One of our biggest challenges is a safe environment for kids, and otherwise I don't know how we would have gotten (a playground)."
